My soap cutter finally arrived, and I got to cut soap with it the other day. It was so easy!! Instead of taking me and hour or an hour and a half I was done in 15 minutes. How great is that. The only problem is that my soap cutter cuts my bars at least 20% bigger than when I cut by hand. So this is a dilemma. Do I cut the bars in half, making them about 3 ounces and sell for a lower price (currently my bars weigh about 4 oz and I charge $5.00 a bar), or do I leave them big approximately 6 ounces and charge more? I'm really not sure which way I should go? Any suggestion? I would appreciate any comments regarding this.
Anyway, here are a few photo's of soaps I recently made.
Oh My Darlin, then Oatmeal Milk and Honey
Black Amber and Lavender, Hello Sweet Thang and Hello Sweet Thang Cupcake
Cupcake cut in half. This makes them easier to use.
Oh My Darlin Soap Cake before it was cut
Soap cake once cut. These would make great handouts at a Baby Shower, or Wedding Shower.
I also made a video of these, if you want to watch
I've had the same dilemma. Only first I went backwards and my soap cutter made my soaps thinner. I ended up dropping prices on those soaps. So I sold that cutter and bought a new one that is wider, but only slightly larger than when I used to cut by hand. My prices are going to have to increase one way or the other with the way inflation is going, so I figure I'll have to face that sooner or later. Might as well be sooner, even though I hate to do it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Amy,
ReplyDeleteYes I also hate to raise my prices, but I hear you on that. My costs are continually on the rise. Thanks for your feedback.
